Why VaultBolt will never ask for your email

The safest data is the data we never collect. VaultBolt has no accounts, no email sign-up and no password reset, and that's a deliberate design choice, not a missing feature.

What an account would cost you

An account links your identity to the fact that you use a private vault. It creates a password-reset path that someone with access to your email could use. And it creates a database we would have to protect forever.

How things work without one

  • Purchases go through Apple and belong to your Apple Account.
  • Backup goes to your own private iCloud, already encrypted.
  • Recovery uses a 12-word phrase that only you hold.
  • Sync between iPhone and iPad uses device pairing with a safety code.

The trade-off

If you lose both your unlock and your recovery phrase, we can't help. That's the point: if we could help you, we could help someone else too. So we make the phrase easy to write down, check that you did, and remind you to keep it safe.

We build an encrypted photo vault for iPhone and iPad. We check Apple instructions against current Apple Support documentation and update guides when iOS changes.
