Free tool

Hide what shouldn't be in the photo.

Blur a face, pixelate a number plate or black out a card number before you send a photo. Everything happens on your device.

How it works: your browser draws the photo on a canvas, applies the effect to the areas you choose and saves a new file. Nothing is uploaded. For card numbers, passwords and other text, use Black out: blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be reconstructed.

Blur, pixelate or black out?

EffectUse it forCan it be undone?
BlurFaces and backgrounds where you want the photo to still look naturalNot from the saved file, but a light blur can leave a face recognisable
PixelateFaces, number plates, screens in the backgroundLarge blocks are safe; small blocks over text can sometimes be guessed back
Black outCard and account numbers, passwords, addresses, ID documentsNo. The pixels are replaced with solid black

Before you share the edited photo

The saved file is a new image, so it carries no GPS location, date or camera details. The original photo is still in your library, unchanged. If the original is the sensitive one, move it into a vault or delete it, and check Recently Deleted.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is this blur tool private?

Yes. The photo is opened and edited by your browser. It is never uploaded, and the saved copy has no location or camera data.

Should I blur or black out a card number?

Black it out. Blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be reconstructed, while a solid black box replaces the pixels completely.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari. Tap to choose a photo, drag over what you want to hide, then download and save the new image to Photos or Files.
