My ex still has access to our shared album

Shared albums and Shared Libraries outlast relationships. Here's how to remove someone's access and what you can't take back.

Updated 2 min readBy the VaultBolt team
Short answerIf you own the shared album, remove the person as a subscriber or delete the album. If they own it, delete your own contributions. For a Shared Library, leave it or remove the participant. Photos they already downloaded can't be recalled.

Shared albums

  • You own it: open the album → People → tap their name → Remove Subscriber. Or delete the album.
  • They own it: delete photos you added, then unsubscribe.

Shared Library

Settings → Apps → Photos → Shared Library → remove the participant (if you created it) or leave the library. Choose whether to keep copies.

Going forward

Share with expiry and view limits instead of permanent albums. VaultBolt's planned secure sharing lets you revoke access later.

Frequently asked questions

Can I delete photos my ex already saved?

No. Copies they saved or screenshotted are on their devices. If someone shares intimate images without consent, contact local authorities or support services.
